Prince Harry is on a path that is "increasingly difficult to turn back from", according to one royal expert. The Duke of Sussex, 40, has been in the UK this week to attend a two-day court hearing into his appeal against the Home Office's decision to reduce his security entitlements in the UK.
The decision was originally made in February 2020 after the prince and his wife Meghan Marklestepped back from royal duty and swapped palace walls for a sprawling mansion in California. With Harry appearing in court this week, Russell Myers - royal editor at The Mirror - thinks the duke is progressing down a path that he will struggle to turn back from when it comes to having a chance to heal the rift between himself and his royal relatives. He wrote in The Mirror: "It's barely believable how far Harry has fallen from consistently being the most popular member of the Royal Family, adored by everyone from the lads in the pub, the troops he served with and your granny.
"Far from denying anyone the right to fight for what they believe in, especially when it comes to the safety and security of their family, but surely Harry realises by now that his path of resistance against his family, the government or generally anyone who has irked him that week is a tiring practice.
"His own father and brother have become so exasperated with his various crusades and petulant attitude they have found it far more cathartic to cut all ties. On any level this is a sad state of affairs. In a parallel universe Harry would have been front and centre, flying the flag for the UK and the monarchy but now finds himself on a path increasingly difficult to turn back from."

Prince Harry insider issues subtle swipe at Royal Family in telling statement
Prince Harry had better protection in Ukraine than he did hours earlier when he was in the UK, a source close to the duke has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex made an unannounced visit to the war-torn country just hours after he was snapped in his home country to attend an appeal over a High Court ruling regarding his downgraded security in Britain.
But his visit sparked backlash in relation to his claims about the level of security he receives when he's in the UK.
However, a source claimed that it is "incorrect" to suggest the duke's Ukraine trip could in any way contradict his security fears in Britain and appeared to throw a subtle dig at the Royal Family saying that he was safer there than he is in Britain.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were 'drunk on fantasy' of entering Princess Diana's world
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were "both drunk on a shared fantasy of being instruments of global transformation", according to a royal biographer.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married in 2018, but their royal tenure as a couple only lasted two years as in 2020, they quit their royal duties and moved to the US.
Princess Diana's biographer, Tina Brown, wrote in the book The Palace Papers: "Harry, who had always chafed at the hierarchy himself, was the last person to want to tell her [Meghan Markle] to slow down.
"They were both now drunk on a shared fantasy of being instruments of global transformation who, once married, would operate in the celebrity stratosphere once inhabited by Princess Diana."

Meghan Markle's social media content
Meghan Markle'ssocial media content "doesn't always land well" in today's fast social media landscape, claims a PR expert, who has analysedMeghan Markle'sInstagramfeed where the Duchess of Sussexbegan posting from the start of the year.Since January 2025, Meghan has returned to social media and has providedfollowers with a mixture of videos, reels and photos of her home life in Montecito, California, and behind-the-scenes work snaps.
Riley Gardiner, founder ofNo Strings Public Relations, exclusively told Express.co.uk: "I can see why some people feel like Meghan’s content leans a little too much into that early 2010s aesthetic.
